About

Joanie Lemercier

Joanie Lemercier has been involved in arts as far as he can remember. He was introduced to creating art on a computer at age five by attending classes on pattern design for fabrics taught by his mother. The French artist has focused on light projections in space ever since. This practice can deeply influence our perception of reality and his projected lights create 3D-like effects. In 2008, he cofounded the visual label AntiVJ, with Yannick Jacquet, Romain Tardy and Olivier Ratsi. Five years later, he founded a creative studio to develop installations, gallery pieces and experiments using projected light in space.

Landscapes and algorythms

Joanie Lemercier's work focuses on the use of light in space and its relationship to our perception of reality. The subjects he depicts range from minimal geometries to organic landscapes. Hiking and exploring nature are paramount to his creative process; the forests, deserts, valleys and mountains that emerge in many of his projects bearing witness to passion. The artist will share some of his most beautiful holiday pictures, as well as images that directly inform his studio research.
