Andreas Refsgaard is an artist and creative coder based in Copenhagen. He uses algorithms and machine learning to allow people to play music using only eye movement and facial gestures, control games by making silly sounds or transform drawings of musical instruments on paper into real compositions. Recently Andreas has been experimenting with using machine learning to create new texts and images based on large amounts of training data and has created Booksby.ai - an online bookstore which sells science fiction novels generated by an artificial intelligence.
Playful Machine Learning
In his talk, artist and creative coder Andreas Refsgaard will show how he uses machine learning in a playful yet thought-provoking manner. By actively seeking out unconventional connections between inputs and outputs, Andreas will show projects where games are controlled by making silly sounds, music is composed by drawing instruments on paper, algorithms are trained to decide what is funny, funky or boring and poetry is generated from images of everyday objects. Besides interactive projects Andreas has also been experimenting with machine learning to generate texts and images based on large amounts of training data. Amongst other things, he will present his project Booksby.ai - an online bookstore which sells science fiction novels generated by an artificial intelligence.
