The Creepers

Biography

Vivien Roubaud (born in 1986 in Vouziers) lives and works in Brussels. A graduate of the Villa Arson and winner of the 2014 Révélations Emerige Prize, he diverts objects and technical materials to reveal their hidden potential. His assemblage work brings poetry, social critique, and physical phenomena into dialogue through fragile, unstable, and often spectacular installations.

The Creepers

Disassembled and reassembled, three printers are diverted from their original purpose to reveal an unexpected dimension. Suspended from the ceiling by long cables, they spin and clumsily move around themselves in a state of wandering. Their rotation transforms mechanics into a poetic gesture: instead of producing orderly pages, they release a continuous flow of colorful signs, letters, and word fragments. Writing becomes a trace, unfolding in unpredictable spirals. Errant and fragile, the printers generate less meaning than visual space, shifting communication technology into a language turned landscape. Week after week, the drawings produced by these printers either replace or accumulate with those already displayed. The walls of the Pavilion then metamorphose into a living surface, saturated with colors and fragments of words.
