Lasermice Dyad : Robots with Personality!
Step into the world of Lasermice Dyad with artist So Kanno! In this playful workshop, children meet a swarm of tiny robots that change color and sound when touched by lasers. After a short introduction to the swarm robot installation Lasermice, children create an unique “fur” for the robots, give them names and imagine their personalities!
The Lasermice, now carrying the individuality bestowed upon them, are then set into the swarm by the children. The children watch this scene as if they were attending their own children’s school play.
Lasermice were originally conceived as a single swarm, with no intentional individuality assigned to each robot beyond an IP address for remote control and a number for maintenance purposes. However, through this workshop, as they are named and given personalities, the Lasermice performing together evoke not only the impression of a swarm, but also layers of individuality that reflect the children themselves, creating a vision reminiscent of human society.
